RDRNNR Libations, Pints & Plates is one of several restaurants located in Old Town La Quinta. RDRNNR (pronounced roadrunner) focuses on great food, great drinks and great service. They moved to a new location in April of 2023, upstairs in the old Hog’s Breath space. The new venue has a fun and open casual vibe. Read on to find out why they are one of my favorite neighborhood establishments.
1. At RDRNNR, Everyone Knows Your Name!
From the owners, Chris and Anita, to the bussers, everyone at RDRNNR makes you feel special. Regulars are greeted by name with a smile, but first-timers receive the same enthusiastic welcome. It is not unusual to see the owners and their management team walking the joint, stopping to say hello and chatting for a minute or two. Vivacious bartenders and servers are on point with friendly and competent service. Chris and Anita have done an impressive job of creating a neighborhood eatery with a “Cheers” vibe.
2. It’s Not Just Bar Food at RDRNNR
At RDRNNR, you will find an innovative menu classified by Pecks (appetizers), Bites (small plates), Foraging for Greens (salads) and Afternoon or Evening Grazing (sandwiches and heartier plates) focusing on farm-to-table ingredients. While the bar food is tasty, think Queso Fundido, Ahi Tuna Nachos and Cooked Dirty Fries, they offer several delicious dinner options. The Creekstone Farms Ribeye and Double Cut Pork Chop are customer favorites. For those looking for something on the healthy side, try the AC’s B.Y.O., an option to build your own meal with a choice of protein and two sides.
3. You Can Quench Your Thirst With a Clawtail
One of my favorite adult beverages at RDRNNR is the Clawtail, an imaginative cocktail combined with a White Claw floater. The popular Mexi-Candy contains Blanco tequila or vodka, Watermelon Pucker, a dash of Tapatio, lime juice and White Claw Watermelon. Other popular drinks include their Spicy Margarita, Cali Frose and the Cove Mule. A nice selection of wine and craft beers are also available. If you are looking for something non-alcoholic, indulge in one of their Mocktails like the Spicy Pina.
4. They Love Dogs at RDRUNNR
RDRNNR La Quinta is dog friendly! Considered paws-tomers, well-behaved dogs are allowed on their large patio. They even offer a Pawsitive Plates menu with a Pup Patty and more. Please make sure Fido is aware of the “three B’s” – no begging, barking or biting.
5. RDRUNNR Supports the Community
Take a moment to browse the amazing artwork adorning the walls of RDRNNR. Always supportive of the community, you will find local artists showcasing their works from beautiful paintings and photography to large size murals decorating the building.

Even more, during the COVID lockdown, Chris and Anita started a Go Fund Me account and delivered meals to our frontline workers at local hospitals, fire departments and police stations. During a difficult time, they found a way to give back.
In addition to all of the above, RDRNNR is the perfect spot to catch a sports event. With numerous large televisions throughout the restaurant, you are sure to find your game. Put on your favorite team’s jersey and cheer them on to victory.
