Why Eco Boat Rentals in San Diego is the Place to Go Now for Fun on the Water

Cooper and I love Eco Boat Rentals and shared why we find them amazing over a year ago. Boy, time does fly! Since then, Eco Boat Rentals has added to their fleet with more fantastic options for exploring the San Diego Bay. Coop and I are headed back to Ocean Beach next week and have already booked our daytime pedal boat ride. Read on to discover more about Eco Boat Rentals and all they have to offer.

Eco Boat Rentals Started with Daytime Pedal Boat Rides

Just like the name says, pedal boats from Eco Boat Rentals are eco-friendly and run on people power, not fossil fuels. Owners Russ and Kate are San Diego locals who love spending time on the water but are conscious of their carbon footprint. Russ discovered the cute pedal boats in 2019, and their business was born.

Each boat holds up to 3 adults and one child or up to 600 lbs. Designed for two people to pedal simultaneously, one cyclist can easily operate the vessel in the case of a solo traveler or if someone needs a break. Well-behaved dogs are more than welcome! Cooper likes barking with the sea lions while I enjoy the spectacular views on our adventures.

Depending on how much time you have and how far you want to go, you can choose a 1-, 2- or 3-hour ride. Explore the grand boats and yachts in the America’s Cup Harbor, then move on to Harbor Island and Liberty Station. Take pictures of the San Diego skyline, or just float and relax.

Another perk of pedaling is that it provides a unique way to exercise. Picture fresh ocean breezes keeping you cool as you burn over 250 calories on average per hour and improve your cardiovascular health. On my rides, I don’t even realize I am working out because I am having so much fun.

Eco Boat Rentals Added Glow Boat Rides at Night

What is a glow boat? It is a pedal boat bathed in colorful lights inside and out. A glow boat ride is perfect for a date night. Snuggle with your loved one as you take in the twinkling lights of the harbor and city. Play love songs over the included Bluetooth speaker to set the mood. Pack your favorite non-alcoholic bubbly and truffles to ramp up the romance. A mirrored disco ball is the final sparkling touch.

Crew will be on hand to assist you on where to go and get you back to the dock safely. Dogs are welcome on glow boats.

The Pink Party Boat Cruise Makes it Debut at Eco Boat Rentals

Eco Boat Rentals has added not just one, but two Pink Party Boat Cruises to their arsenal of fun! Charter either the Pink Panther or Pink Flamingo for a two-hour cruise aboard an electric Duffy boat accented in neon pink. Each boat can hold 6-8 passengers and comes with a Captain to pilot you and your friends around the harbor safely.

A Pink Party Boat Cruise is the ideal place to throw a party. How about a Barbie birthday party? Or celebrate the bride-to-be at a one-of-a-kind bachelorette party. Imagine the Insta-worthy selfies you will capture! Feel free to bring food and drinks including alcoholic beverages, but please no red wine. Eco Boat Rentals provides glittery, pink captain hats, banners, a Bluetooth speaker system and karaoke! There is even a restroom on board. Complete window enclosures can go up on chilly days. Currently, Pink Party Cruises are not dog friendly.

  • You are not allowed to swim from an Eco Boat.
  • Minimum age to operate a boat is 16 years old. There is no minimum age for a passenger. It is suggested you bring a car seat for infants.
