As a child, I dreamed of becoming an actor and winning an Oscar. I even designed my sparkling, sequined dress to wear to the ceremony. Things didn’t go quite as planned though especially when I discovered I suffer from stage fright. Still, I developed a love for live theatre. Living in the desert affords me the opportunity to immerse myself in plays and musicals throughout the year. CV Repertory is one of my favorites and now that I have discovered their acting classes, I am on my way to achieving my dream. Read on to find out more about CV Repertory.
CV Repertory Offers Acting Classes for All Ages
So how does one with stage fright become an actor? The answer is by taking acting classes. CV Repertory offers classes for all ages. I joined the Acting Technique class taught by veteran Broadway actress Alix Korey earlier this year. This class consisted of examining and performing short scenes with a partner or monologues individually in front of the group. Alix provided constructive criticism and challenged us to really explore the character’s motive behind the words. As my confidence grew, my stage fright diminished, helping me in both the real world and on stage. I loved it so much, I signed up for the summer session staring mid-June.
Adult classes this summer include Acting Technique, I Hate Shakespeare/Shakespeare Workshop and Going Solo: The Art of the One Person Show. Children and teens can hone their skills with Movement for Actors: Athletes of Emotion, Improv FUN-damentals and Acting Pro: Mastering the Audition.
