Go to Dog-Friendly Wineries in Beautiful Paso Robles

After a few days visiting Morro Bay on our Central California road trip, Cooper and I headed to beautiful Paso Robles. Visiting a few of their dog-friendly wineries was on our agenda. With so many to choose from, it was hard to narrow it down to just four. After deciding on our itinerary, I made reservations at each winery which is strongly recommended. We had a blast! Read on to find out more.

Dog-Friendly Wineries in Paso Robles Happily Include DAOU

DAOU Family Estates was the most expensive winery on our list, but also the most elegant. The DAOU vineyard sits on top of a mountain at an elevation of 2200 feet with amazing views of the Paso Robles countryside. After being greeted with a chilled glass of Rose, we were led to a comfortable couch on the patio. Our educator steered us through a tasting of five different varietals, all of which were only available through the estate.

A scrumptious culinary menu is available with all selections made in house. I ordered the Mezze Platter consisting of snap peas, baby carrots, radishes, cucumbers and hearty bread with a selection of dips. It was so fresh. The menu changes seasonally but included oysters, caviar, scallops, cheese and charcuterie, salads, steak and peach cobbler on our stop.

The $50 tasting fee was waived with my purchase of three bottles of wine. This was the first winery on our trip, and it did not disappoint.

Don’t Tell But Austin Hope Was My Favorite

Austin Hope & Treana Tasting Cellar provides dog-friendly tastings both indoors and outdoors that are casual and fun. I booked one of their outdoor cabanas and was pleasantly surprised to find a private seating area surrounded by greenery with grapes growing right in front of me. I let them know I would be traveling with a pup beforehand and found a water bowl waiting for Cooper along with a homemade biscuit.

Our wine steward, Holly, was friendly and informative. She often sat with us for a few moments chatting. Classic rock was playing in the background adding to the relaxed vibe. I have always been a fan of Austin Hope Cabernet and delighted in sampling other grapes. The Tasting Cellar features wines exclusive to the estate.

While they do not have a full food menu, a limited number of charcuterie boards are available for purchase. We made our reservation for 3:00pm, in-between meal times, so we were set. The $25 tasting fee is waived with a $100 purchase of wine. I loved our time and the wine at Austin Hope. It’s a cool place.

We Had a Fantastic Time at Tooth and Nail!

You will know you have arrived at the Tooth & Nail Wine Company when you come upon a castle complete with a drawbridge and moat. Surrounded by gorgeous gardens, their patio is dog friendly. Our tasting consisted of six wines including the Fiend and the Destinata Carbonic Grenache. Both of those went home with me. Everyone we met was engaging, and Coop received loads of attention.

We planned our experience around lunchtime as Tooth & Nail serves some tasty food. I savored the Carne Asada Bao Buns and Fried Brussel Sprouts. They update their menu periodically with something for everyone. Make sure to check out their online calendar for live entertainment. A band was setting up as we were leaving.

With just a $60 purchase or by joining their wine club, the $40 tasting fee is waived. You don’t want to miss Tooth & Nail on your Paso Robles Wine Tour.

Eberle Winery is One of the Most Dog-Friendly Wineries in Paso

Don’t be surprised to see a couple of Standard Poodles at Eberle Winery. They live there. They are almost as famous as the winery owner, Gary Eberle. Mention his name in Paso Robles and you will hear he brought Syrah to the area. The winery welcomes dogs in all areas of the facility including cave tours.

Although wine tastings in the warm and homey tasting room are complimentary, I booked the VIP Cave Tour and Tasting in the Cave Grotto for $50. Included is a cheese pairing to bring out the flavor of each varietal. After a guided walk through the caves which was educational and filled with funny stories, we came upon a pretty table in the grotto for the tasting. I sampled five different wines and bought a couple to take back with me. It was a unique adventure!

Cooper and I hope our story gives you the inspiration to plan your own Paso Robles vacation. Please keep in mind all pricing is at the time of this writing and is subject to change.
