Your Favorite Wine Bar in Indio Has a New Name

If you have driven down Jefferson in Indio lately, you might have noticed your favorite wine bar, Camden Cellars, is gone. In its place stands The Local on 50th. What’s going on? The good news is there is no need to fret. The Local on 50th still offers all that you loved about Camden, but now, with so much more.

The Local on 50th is Still Locally Owned

Joey Salway opened Camden Cellars with a partner in September 2023. The wine bar enjoyed a loyal following, but the partnership dissolved earlier this year. Joey stayed on and renamed the wine bar The Local on 5Oth with a brand overhaul and plans for an exciting future. Coachella Valley dwellers might recognize Joey from his longstanding stint as a bartender at Stuft Pizza in La Quinta.

It’s More Than a Wine Bar!

While Camden Cellars focused on wine, The Local on 50th will soon be offering a full bar in addition to beer and wine. Don’t get me wrong. Their wine selection is diverse with favorites Kim Crawford, Prisoner, Grgich and Carr by the glass and some darn good bottles too, but let’s be honest. There is nothing like a tasty Bloody Mary with brunch.

Speaking of brunch, it is now served on weekends just in time for football. On the main menu, customers rave about the crispy calamari, shrimp points, flatbreads and po’ boys. Make sure to order the truffle shoestring fries. Dinner entrees include several pastas, a burger with a seared burgundy crust, salmon and steak.

Are you ready to day drink? Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 2pm to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. Enjoy discounts on wine, beer and sangria and a host of food specials.

Comfortable Seating at this Updated Wine Bar

While Joey still has more renovations planned, the outside patio has been upgraded with comfortable couches, tables and chairs. Two outdoor televisions allow you to cheer on your beloved sports team. Cooper loves that the patio is dog friendly. Indoors, find a large bar with four more televisions and a separate dining area. Plans include opening up the inside and adding community tables for more seating.

Special Events at The Local on 50th

From wine dinners to trivia, there is always something to do at The Local on 50th. Grab your friends for a fun and free Triva Night during the week complete with prizes for the winners. Be on the lookout for complimentary wine tasting nights or indulge in a decadent wine pairings dinner. Looking for the perfect place to host your next birthday party or special event.
