If you are like me and love amazing musicals or a thought provoking play, but hate paying Broadway prices, then Palm Canyon Theatre in Palm Springs is for you. Palm Canyon Theatre knocks it out of the park!

The History of the Palm Canyon Theatre
Twenty five years ago, Dr. William Layne, his wife Sylvia and other family members won a bid to repurpose the historic Frances S. Stevens school into a cultural center to bring the joy of live theatre to the community. The very first production opened in September 1997 and was Romberg and Hammerstein’s operetta “The Desert Song.” It starred the Layne’s daughter Se, a working actress in New York. The theatre is now ran by her children along with a group of individuals dedicated to continuing on the mission of the Palm Canyon Theatre.
The Mission Statement of the Palm Canyon Theatre
Palm Canyon Theatre is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the education of live stage productions and the enrichment of the greater Palm Springs community and its visitors.

Spamalot
I had the pleasure of enjoying Palm Canyon Theatre’s Spamalot last weekend. While I have never seen this on Broadway, I did attend a traveling production at the McCallum a few years ago. PCT’s version was just as funny, and the cast was just as talented. Belly laughs could be heard coming from the audience. Other shows I have been delighted to catch include: “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,” “The Bad Seed,” “Meteor Shower,” “Into the Heights,” and “Palm Springs Getaway.” All were winners!
