Who doesn’t need a day at the spa to relax and rejuvenate? Finding the perfect spa can be a daunting task in the Coachella Valley whether you are visiting on vacation or a long time local. There are a plethora of hotels in the area that offer full service spas complete with steam rooms, salons, pools and a glass or two of champagne. Which one do you pick? My choice is the Spa at Omni Rancho Las Palmas.
Why the Spa at Omni Rancho Las Palmas?
My criteria for a perfect spa day, besides the actual services, is pretty simple. It includes a private spa pool to catch some rays, a varied cocktail and lunch menu served poolside, a steam room and a great price.
The Spa at Omni Rancho Las Palmas meets all of my requirements. Let’s break it down below.
The Private Pool at the Spa at Omni Rancho Las Palmas
Located in a secluded courtyard is a small coed pool dedicated to the spa with spectacular views of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Find plenty of lounge chairs, sun beds and umbrellas surrounding the pool. I have yet to discover it too busy to snag a seat. Near the entrance, tables and chairs are available in the shade, perfect for eating lunch. Make sure to bring your sunscreen and a good book to read.
What’s for Lunch?
The Spa at Omni Rancho Las Palmas boasts a tasty menu with innovative cocktails. Their offerings change periodically, but the burger is a staple and scrumptious. On my last visit, I sampled the Citrus Grilled Salmon Salad, a more healthy but still delicious option. Other customer favorites include the Shrimp and Fennel Wrap, Ahi Salad and Watermelon Carpaccio.
Wine, beer and cocktails are served poolside. The White Sangria is refreshing, as is the red version. Tropical drinks abound. The Strawberry Hibiscus Shake is a combination of fruity flavors and vodka and delivers a punch. For those abstaining, try one of their creative mocktails. The Lavender and Honey Spritzer is a delight.
Service is friendly and efficient. Expect a tiny bit of a wait while the server fetches your food and drink from another area of the resort and order accordingly.
Fabulous Spa Services at Omni Rancho Las Palmas
The signature services of the spa are the Chi massage and facial which I have indulged in. Talk about the stress melting away!
For the Chi Massage, you pick a specialty oil to use during the service. I chose the nerve chi balancer, a blend of lemon, vervain, eucalyptus stageriana (lemon bark), ylang ylang and other essential oils blended to help calm and support the nervous system. The oil was poured down my back and then massaged into my skin. It felt wonderful. You choose the pressure, and I went for a medium touch.
The Chi Facial begins by selecting a crystal for motivation. I, of course, chose a green one that channels relaxation. Exactly what I was looking for! Next, your skin is inspected, and a treatment plan is decided on. The skin is cleansed and masks, lotions and potions are applied. In between applications, the technician performs a neck and shoulder massage and hand exfoliation. I became so relaxed during my service, I caught myself snoring! My skin was absolutely glowing when the facial concluded.
An extensive spa menu includes over 50 different services. Pamper yourself with massages, facials, body wraps and more. I recently tried the CBD massage and was in heaven!
Other Amenities at the Spa at Omni Rancho Las Palmas
Soak in the indoor jacuzzi. Decompress in a steam or sauna room. Wash off the sunscreen in one of several showers stocked with aromatic body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Sip on a flavor-infused water offered in the lobby. Meditate in the quiet waiting area before your service where tea, water and fruit snacks are provided. Brushes, combs, blow dryers, razors, mouthwash and other such items may be found in the restroom.
Did Someone Say Membership?
Become a member at the Spa at Omni Rancho Las Palmas and enjoy a host of benefits. Three, six and twelve month memberships are available. Each includes one 60-minute service (some exceptions apply) per month, use of the spa amenities, including the pool, and discounts on food, drinks and shopping at the resort.
In comparison to to other spas in the valley, I have found prices to be somewhat lower at Omni Rancho Las Palmas which I appreciate. A membership even deepens the savings.
If membership is not for you, but you are a Coachella Valley resident, ask for their generous 20% local discount. What a deal! Remember to tip on the original amount of the service and not the discounted price.
You will be sure to see me by the pool at the Spa at Omni Rancho Las Palmas this summer. Make sure to say hi!
