The Attic in Long Beach is one of Cooper and my favorite spots when visiting Rosie’s Dog Beach on the weekends. Housed in a cute Craftsman style house on the corner of East Broadway and Newport Avenue, the vibe is homey and welcoming. Read on to find out more about this scrumptious eatery.
The Attic in Long Beach is Recognized in the Michelin Guide
The Michelin Guide is a red book published yearly with restaurant recommendations and ratings. The top grade is three stars, but just getting into the book is impressive. It is considered one of the highest honors in the industry. Per their website, the following criteria determines if an eatery makes the guide or earns a star:
- Quality of the ingredients used.
- Mastery of flavor and cooking techniques.
- The personality of the chef in his cuisine.
- Value for money.
- Consistency between visits.
Anonymous inspectors from diverse nationalities travel the world assessing restaurants. Chefs wait anxiously to see if they made the cut. The Attic in Long Beach is included in the guide with a tantalizing review. Rumor is, they are on their way to earning their first Michelin star!
The Food at the Attic in Long Beach is AH-mazing!
The Attic’s Chef Cameron Slaugh fuses New American Cuisine with southern traditions creating elevated dishes to savor. The menu changes seasonally spotlighting fresh, local fare. I must admit, Coop and I have only been to the Attic for brunch, but can’t wait to sample the supper menu. The Tomahawk Pork Chop, Morrel Mushroom Cannelloni and Gumbo descriptions make my mouth water.
Speaking of brunch, the Upcountry Breakfast is incredible. It features two crispy grits cakes, one with shrimp and the other a pork croquette. Both come topped with a poached egg and mustard seed and are covered in a creamy hollandaise sauce. Can you say delicious?
Don’t leave without ordering their house made biscuits. Flaky goodness hot from the oven arrives at your table with butter smothered in honey. Oh my! Other incredible dishes include the Breakfast Rice in a Stone Bowl, Chicken & Waffles and the Ricotta French Toast with house made country bread.
Thirsty? Sip on one of their unique Bloody Marys, craft cocktails or coffee beverages.
Your Pup is Welcome!
Bring Fido to the Attic in Long Beach with you. They allow well-behaved pups on both outdoor patios and at the outside bar. The hostess immediately brought a water bowl to the table at our check-in, and they even offer a doggy menu. Cooper chose the bacon and rice and gobbled it up. He basked in all the attention he received.
The Service is Beyond Friendly
From the welcoming smile and big hello from the hostess (it was her first day) to the attentive wait staff, the service at the Attic in Long Beach is wonderful. A special shoutout to Heidi who felt more like a friend than my food server.
