Have you heard of The Magician’s Study in Las Vegas? I hadn’t until I saw a TikTok video featuring a magician wearing a giant rabbit’s head. I like a magic show and was heading to Las Vegas, so I went online to buy a ticket. Ends up, that is not as easy as it seems. Read on to find out why.
Buying a Ticket to The Magician’s Study
You might think one can pop on The Magician’s Study website anytime to buy a ticket, but you would be wrong. First, you need a password to purchase tickets online. Remember, mystery is part of the allure of the show. There are a couple of different ways to obtain the password. One is to complete the RSVP form on the website. Once you do, they will send it to you. Another way is to Google it. That is how I found it. The third way is to ask me. You will know you have the right password if you are able to buy the tickets.
Another challenge to acquiring tickets is they sell out at least a month in advance. Forbes calls the show, “The hottest ticket in Las Vegas right now-and rightly so.” Make sure to grab your tickets when planning your Vegas trip. Waiting until the last minute may mean you miss out.
Where is the Magic Show and Who is the Magician?
This magic show is reminiscent of a speakeasy in that they don’t tell you where it is located when you buy your ticket. There is also no sign on a door. It’s all very secret. I have no intention of ruining the surprise by giving it away, just know you will receive an email the day of the performance. Included will be the precise site and a catch phrase that will gain you entrance to the inside of the study. If you want to make reservations for dinner beforehand, they do provide restaurant ideas that are within a 15-minute walk from the show. I can say it is located on the strip.
The magician’s identity remains unknown. Per the website, he has toured internationally, appeared on television and performed for royalty. That is all I know.
What to Expect at The Magician’s Study
Seating is important at The Magician’s Study. The study has three rows of seats and holds about 50 people, so it is quite intimate. The front-row seats are more expensive than the back for good reason. If you are seated in the first row, you have the best vantage point to witness the magic. You will also be part of the show. Audience participation is a big part of the act. I sat in the second row and could see everything. It may be a little harder in the third row.
No food is allowed, but drinks are available for purchase and may be brought inside the study. The magic show is about an hour and a half long, and you may take a picture with the magician and his assistant afterwards (with his rabbit head on, of course).
The dress code is dress to impress. The majority of the attendees were dressed as if they were going to a nice dinner with a few ready for the nightclubs. You might not want to wear shorts if you are a man. One did and was good-naturedly called out for it in the show.
You will laugh until your stomach hurts. The magician has a wicked sense of humor. Comedy is infused into the majority of his tricks which are primarily sleight-of-hand or prestidigitation (I learned a new word). This is an act for adults, so you may hear a little raunchy or suggestive language.
I had a wonderful time at The Magician’s Study and would definitely go again!
