Why You Will Love This Yoga Studio in La Quinta

Gather Yoga+Wellness Studio is more than just a yoga studio. It is a community. There have been some changes since I first blogged about Gather, including a new location. Read on for an update and to discover why I continue to call it home.

A New Location and New Classes

Gather Yoga+Wellness moved to a brand new space. Located at 78010 Main Street, Suite 201, in Old Town La Quinta, find the yoga studio above Nitrofusions. Large windows give off tons of natural light. A beautiful painting of an angel graces the back wall. It is a welcoming spot.

Classes range from Strength & Stretch to Gentle Yoga with something for all levels of experience. Evening classes include a Vinyasa Flow and Restorative Yoga led by Karen DeNovi. A Candlelight Flow is new to Friday nights in November. One of my favorites is the Deep Stretch class on Sunday mornings.

In-person, virtual and outdoor classes are available. Click here to access their schedule.

Jennifer Yockey Created More Than Just a Yoga Studio

Gather Yoga+Wellness was started by Jennifer Yockey to provide a path to mental and physical well-being in the community she loves.

According to the website, “Gather was created to provide sacred space for the community that our family lives in and loves. Unity, Connection, Movement, Self-Compassion, Awareness, Acceptance and Grace are integral to the growth of both the individual and the collective. It’s not about touching your toes but what you learn on the way down.”

Jen is a E-RYT 500 which means she has completed a 500-hour training to be a yoga instructor. Always a teacher, she started with golf before moving on to yoga and mindfulness. She is certified in Pre-Natal, Yin, Restorative & Trauma-Informed yoga.

Amazing Workshops and Sound Baths

Discover a variety of workshops and special classes with wellness as a focus.

Susan Dunn’s BreathWork class is centered on a conscious circular breath technique aimed at releasing blockages in the body and moving energy to open you up to healing.

Needles and Nidra is a popular event consisting of 90 minutes of yoga nidra, gentle movement and ear accupunture. Feel your nervous system calm and stress melt away.

Relax at monthly Sound Baths in the yoga studio. Sound Baths use resonant sounds to bathe the participants in sound waves. This meditative experience releases stress, improves sleep and mood and loosens muscles among other benefits.

The Gather & Grow Women’s Circle is a safe environment to share, practice active listening and offer support. It is an opportunity for women to find their authentic voices, inspire personal growth and be part of a community.

A Yoga Studio for Kids Too

Paul and Cassidy Barbeau run Sundance Yoga Studio out of Gather Yoga+Wellness. They make yoga accessible and inspiring for children. Per Harvard Health Publishing, yoga and mindfulness improves both physical and mental health in school-age children. It can even reduce stress and anxiety in kids.

Cassidy is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher with additional certificates in Yin Yoga, Teen Yoga, Trauma-Informed Yoga and Children’s Yoga. Also holding a Children’s Yoga Certificate, Paul has 200 hours in yoga training.

Cassidy also instructs an adult Mid-Week Yoga Flow at Gather.

Take “Gathered Truths” Home With You

Jen wrote a book! “Gathered Truths” is full of inspiration with spaces to jot down your thoughts and questions. It promotes sacred inquiry and contemplation.

Below is a five star review on Amazon:

Yockey’s insights are pure, compassionate and life-giving. Each chapter provides an enlightened perspective on the subject at hand with permission for the reader to not “perfect” oneself but live into practicing each art, one day at a time. Forgiveness, gentleness, kindness….these are words that the author clearly lives out. I will use this book as a daily “devotional” for years to come. I would especially recommend this compilation of truths for anyone who is open to the sacred and the divine but struggles with “religion”. There is only grace and forgiveness in the lines of these pages. A true joy to read every page. Can’t wait for her next one!” Luci
