5 Venues to Check Out for Amazing Holiday Entertainment

Maybe you have friends and family coming to visit for the holidays, and you need somewhere merry to take them. Or, you’re feeling a little blah and are looking for amazing holiday entertainment in the desert to lift your spirits. Either way, I have compiled a list of venues within the Coachella Valley offering some fantastic shows in December. Read on to find out more.

1. Jazzville Features Spectacular Holiday Entertainment

If you haven’t made it to a show at Jazzville, you are missing out on some spectacular music. Jazzville is located inside the Cascade Lounge at the Agua Caliente Casino Palm Springs. Shows take place on Thursday evenings throughout the season. The talent is sure to get you on your feet and jingle your bells. Expect to see me dancing at the Phat Cat Swingers’ show on December 22. Upcoming holiday shows include:

2. The Purple Room Supper Club is the Place for Holiday Entertainment

For a fantastic night out on the town, head on down to the Purple Room in Palm Springs. Find a variety of live holiday acts performing in the month of December. Sip on a Ring a Ding, Ding, cut into a Black Angus, boneless ribeye steak and sing along to your favorite holiday tunes. I have bought my ticket for The Skivvies on December 3 and am so looking forward to it. Their calendar of upcoming holiday shows includes:

  • Michael Holmes Judy’s Old-Fashioned Christmas ~ December 4, 11 and 18

3. The McCallum Theatre

The McCallum Theatre’s mission is to educate and entertain by offering a variety of performing arts experiences that reflect the diversity of people, interests and tastes of the Palm Desert and Palm Springs communities. Each season they present a calendar full of award-winning plays, musicals, bands, dance and so much more. They have a jammed packed holiday schedule including:

  • All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 ~ December 6
  • The Storm Large Holiday Ordeal ~ December 9

4. Desert Theatreworks Presents Irving Berlin’s White Christmas

Desert Theatreworks is a community playhouse located in Indio. I have blogged about them before and find their performances delightful. For the holidays, they are presenting Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. This family-friendly show is bursting with jolly songs and dancing and is full of yuletide cheer. Showing December 10 through December 22, tickets start at $38.

5. The Annenberg Theatre Showcases The Nutcracker

CK Dance, an award-winning dance company in Palm Springs, is honored to present its 25th Anniversary performances of The Nutcracker at the Annenberg Theatre within the Palm Springs Art Museum. During its 24-year run, CK Dance has entertained over 30,000 theatregoers, playing to sold out audiences. You don’t want to miss this beloved ballet. Performances take place on December 21 and 22. VIP tickets are $50 and general admission is $30.
